Where are you on the Voice Confidence Quadrant?

What is the Voice Confidence Quadrant?

It’s a framework I developed to help you identify what area you need to work on when it comes to speaking confidently and effectively (see infographic below).

  1. The Vertical Axis: represents your inner voice. This includes your confidence, your self-talk, your beliefs - the speaking story you tell yourself.

  2. The Horizontal Axis: represents your physical voice and your speaking skills. This is about voice production, the quality of your resonance, articulation and expression. It’s also about the content, the structure and the stagecraft.

The Voice Confidence Quadrant has 4 possibilities:

  1. MUTED: You’re not being seen, you’re not being heard, you’re not sharing your soul voice and all the magic!

  2. MASKED: You have the skills to be sharing your message in an effective, engaging way with a voice people want to listen to…. BUT your lack of confidence is keeping all those skills hidden.

  3. MESSY: You’re out there being seen – posting, podcasting, speaking up in meetings, taking the mic – BUT your voice and your message is lacking clarity and cut through.

  4. MAGNETIC: You’re not just out there posting videos, speaking at events, on podcasts, in meetings – you’re doing it with real impact! The audience is drawn to you like a magnet.
