Welcome back to That Voice Podcast.

I am back from Singapore where I ran an amazing Speak Up for Your Business Workshop, got out in nature, and had the most amazing new years eve dinner with my beautiful friend Simone Heng. Simone had actually been a guest here on the podcast twice, Ep 118 How to use your voice to connect – Simone’s a world leading expert in Human Connection, you may have read her bestselling book Let’s Talk about Loneliness.

She’s also a very accomplished international speaker and back in episode 41 we talked about How to speak on stage.

Our Singapore trip was also capped off with a very fancy upgrade to first class for our flight home, you may have seen on socials Patrick and I had dinner together. It was very fitting because our word of the year is ELEVATE. We looked around and thought a lot of things we’d approached with a bit of a ‘that’ll do’ kind of attitude.

Especially with the apartment. For example our TV was a really old one I’d bought on gumtree for $300 more than 10 years ago, and it was just bringing tired, substandard energy to the living room, so we got a new TV in the sales, and I also put new linen on the bed  - I’ve even converted back to using a top sheet – mum’ll be proud and we bought new cushions and a new knife block and it’s amazing how a few little things can really spruce up the place and transform your energy – which is what it’s all about.

And we’re applying the energy of ELEVATE across all areas of life this year – health, finances, our relationship, my business.

And if you’re wanting to ELEVATE your speaking skills this year, then do it, let’s work together,

Because if we want to elevate we often can’t do it alone, we need a boost from below or a hand from above. It’s our team, including our spiritual team, who helps us elevate in our lives.

And when I’m choosing to work with a coach or teacher or mentor I take this approach. Is this person someone I want on my team to help me get to where I want to go. Do they have the right energy? Do they have the right expertise? Do they have the right values?

Now back to Singapore, are you ready to hear about the most heart-stopping moment of the trip?

So we just got off the MRT at Promenade. The MRT is Singapore’s subway system – it’s so good. So I just got off the train and was on a very long escalator going up out of the station and goodness knows how I heard this, I heard the faint tinkle of something metallic hitting the escalator, I look down to see if I dropped something but next thing I’m at the top and whatever fell is long gone in the teeth of the machine.

I reach up to my earring. A gorgeous gold Oroton set Patrick got me for Christmas and just as I reach up the earring drops out of my ear into my hand. Oh my goodness, it was the backing of the earring that fell.

Why am I telling you this? What a metaphor.

If you don’t have a strong backing, you are moments away from losing something valuable.

And if you don’t listen for the backing falling out, those little signs, those little whispers from the universe, you’re more likely to lose that valuable piece.

Now as a voice and public speaking coach, many people reach out because they realise their backing is gone. When they flounder in a presentation, lose a pitch for a client, struggle to get a video filmed or a podcast recorded.

And having the support of a coach, gaining the knowledge, learning the skills not only puts the backing on, it secures it in place.

I often hear from my client, those in Soul Speakers or those who work with me privately, they say ‘it’s so reassuring to have the resources and support” especially when that presentation pops up, or they’re asked to speak on a panel or facilitate a meeting or speak on stage at a conference or be interviewed in the media.

So the question is if you want to best case scenario become a fantastic speaker and communicator or worst case scenario avoid what you might call a speaking disaster – a BBF – a big bad flop… then you need to have strong backing.

If the way you speak is valuable to you – and let’s be real communication is one of THE most valuable things you can work on to improve your relationships, your business, your career, your finances. Perhaps health is the only thing more important, and you can work on the two together. Your voice is a powerful energetic channel for healing. It’s a conduit for processing emotions. So getting support for your voice and your communication skills is a foundational springboard to elevating every part of your life.

If you’re not sure where to start – do the Magnetic Voice Formula mini-course, the link is in the shownotes.

And if you’re ready to get that backing with your speaking, come and join us in Soul Speakers where you have everything you need to speak from the heart with confidence and become that visible and audible force in your field. It would be our pleasure and privilege to welcome you in.

As I was standing in that MRT station with this beautiful gold earring in my hand I knew I had to source another backing asap, because I really wanted to wear them for NYE. So I  went into a jewellery store in the mall – great thing about Singapore, lots of shops open late, and got a little stainless set for a few dollars, and they did the trick, held the earrings in more securely than the original backings actually. Problem fixed, crisis averted. Just like the backing of an earring secures its beauty and significance, the right support and resources secure your speaking success. Will I see you in Soul Speakers?
