276. My BASIC philosophy guaranteed to get you heard

If you want cut-through and momentum with your voice — keep it BASIC.

In this episode, I break down the five non-negotiables for being heard, trusted, and remembered when you speak.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why boldness (not talent) is the real difference-maker

  • How authenticity and alignment build trust instantly

  • Why supporting others strengthens your own voice

  • How intention anchors confident communication

  • Why consistency isn’t optional if you want credibility

The BASIC Framework:

  • B — Bold: Courage over comfort

  • A — Authentic: Be real, aligned, and embodied

  • S — Supportive: Celebrate other voices to strengthen your own

  • I — Intentional: Know why you’re speaking

  • C — Consistent: Build trust through reliable visibility

TRANSCRIPT

Hello and welcome back to That Voiceprint Podcast.

I’m Sal — your BASIC biatch…
No, that’s not true. I’m a woman, I’m highly complex — as my boyfriend Patrick bears the brunt of.

But for this episode, we are keeping it BASIC.

Because this is how you get cut-through.
This is how you establish yourself as someone people listen to.
This is how you build momentum.

BASIC is an acronym.
And it’s the approach we officially take inside my Soul Speakers Advanced group — my 12-month program that includes:

  • Big group, topic-based coaching calls

  • Small-group mastermind-style sessions

  • Unlimited 1:1s with me

  • And free access to my Speak Up for Your Business workshop

This group is for people who are ready to be audible — in their business and in their life.

If that sounds like you, get in touch so you can be first on the waitlist when a spot opens. There are only 10 places — and with unlimited 1:1s, I need to keep it intimate so I can actually be on the other end of the phone, writing speeches, workshopping ideas, and supporting you properly.

If you’re already in Soul Speakers, you get first access to those spots — and anything you’ve invested in Soul Speakers comes off the Advanced Program if you choose to upgrade.

Now, you might be tuning in for the first time.
You might just be here for some speaking tips.
Or maybe you’re at the very beginning of your speaking journey.

This BASIC approach applies to you too.

If you do these five things, there is no way you don’t get heard. There’s no way you don’t get noticed — especially if you run your own business. People need to hear from you.

And if you do run a business, make sure you come along to a Speak Up for Your Business workshop.
At the time of recording, I have:

  • Brisbane — May 22

  • Sydney — March 19

  • Melbourne — April 17

If you’re tuning in from Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne, just DM me and I’ll send you the details.

Alright. Let’s start with B.

B is for BOLD

Where is the bold part of you?

This isn’t about becoming someone else.
It’s about finding the courage already inside you and letting that boldness come forward.

Honestly, I could replace bold with brave.

Other people don’t just magically have “the gift of the gab.”
You’re not bad at speaking.
The algorithm is not against you.

Those are just little voices of fear — doing a very good job of justifying why you don’t go after what you want.

Boldness and bravery are required to get on the stage, speak on camera, or pipe up in that meeting.

And while you’re taking bold action, you need the A in BASIC.

A is for AUTHENTIC

You’ve got to be real.
You’ve got to be you.

The partner word here is aligned — your voice has to match your body, your words have to match your intention.

That’s the work we do inside Soul Speakers.
And there are also powerful strategies for this in my book VOICEPRINT — which is basically the handbook for finding and using your authentic voice.

It’s on Kindle, audiobook, paperback — and at the time of recording, I believe it’s still in stock. Grab yourself a copy.

So: you’re bold, you’re authentic… and now we move to S.

S is for SUPPORTIVE

If you’re not loudly and proudly cheering on the voices of others — if you’re scrolling without celebrating, or worse, judging people for what they say and how they say it — remember this:

When you point one finger at someone else, three are pointing straight back at you.

Judgement of others is judgement of self.

And when you celebrate and support others, you start to feel celebrated and supported too.

One of the biggest reasons people don’t put their voice out there is fear of judgement.
“What will they think?”

One of the best ways to dissolve that fear is to genuinely support people who are using their voices.

It’s no coincidence that the people in my DMs — supporting me, sharing my book, telling me the podcast made an impact — are also the people putting themselves out there. And I cheer them on right back.

So be supportive.
Tell someone they made a difference.
Like the post. Leave the comment. Send the voice note. Turn up to their event.

You might be surprised how much that energy rubs off — and comes back to you.

Now we’re at I.

I is for INTENTIONAL

You’re not just throwing vocal spaghetti at the wall.

There’s a reason behind what you’re sharing.
What’s the why?

We go deep into this in Chapter 3 of Voiceprint, including an exercise called Your Reason to Speak — and I highly recommend doing it. It becomes your anchor.

With my 1:1 clients, we work through this together, because once your intention is clear, your voice becomes grounded.

And finally, the C in BASIC.

C is for CONSISTENT

This is the most important one, if you ask me.

People don’t come to you because you posted one video, recorded one podcast, or spoke up once in a meeting.

It’s about a pattern.

It’s about establishing your voiceprint.

This isn’t about being heard — it’s about being remembered.
It’s the mark you leave again and again.
It’s the speaking habits you form.

So create consistency rules you can actually live with — and then commit to them.

For me, it’s my podcast. Unless I’m on break, it comes out at the same time.
I email my community every Tuesday.
I post online almost every day.

Now — don’t start there. Start with something achievable. Otherwise you’ll burn out and throw the towel in.

Consistency equals reliability.
Reliability equals trust.

Think of it like a bricks-and-mortar shop.
If the doors opened randomly, closed unexpectedly, and no one knew when you’d be there — people would stop coming. They wouldn’t trust you’d show up.

This applies to business owners and professionals alike.

We teach people how to listen to us.
And if we’re inconsistent in when and how we speak, people lose faith.

Consistency isn’t a nice-to-have.
It’s a need-to-have if you want trust.

Our voices are for connection.

And if you’re not here because you want to be trusted — in your business, your workplace, or your life — then you’re on the wrong podcast.

Because here — and inside Soul Speakers — we speak from the heart, with confidence.

We keep it BASIC.

Bold.
Authentic.
Supportive.
Intentional.
Consistent.

Do those five things — and watch what happens.

And if you want to truly take action on this approach, come and join Soul Speakers.

We’re not basic biatches.
We’re the most soulful, genuine speaking community you’ll find.

And we’d love to welcome you.
